Cut beef into 1 to 2 inch chunks. Brown on all sides in shortening. Add the remaining ingredients except flour and noodles. Cover and let simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours until meat is tender.
Add noodles. Let cook 20 to 30 minutes.
In a small bowl, mix together the flour and a small amount of cold water to form a paste, and pour into skillet. Cook until thick.
