Ingredients:
zest of 2 lemons finely grated
juice of 4 lemons
1 lemon, cut in slices
3 cups sugar
3 cups water
24 ice cubes
8 fresh mint leaves
Preparation:
- Put sugar, water, and lemon peel into a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil for 5 minutes while stirring constantly. Let it cool.
- Add lemon juice to the cooled sugar and water mixture.
- Put ice cubes in glasses. Pour 1/4 cup of lemonade syrup over the ice cubes, add 3/4 cup of cold water, and stir. Float a thin slice of lemon and, if you like, a fresh mint leaf on top of each glass. For pink lemonade, add 1/2 cup grenadine syrup to the jar and shake.
Serves 8.
