Ingredients:
1 quart (1 l) blackberries
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1/2 tsp. salt
DUMPLINGS:
2/3 cup milk
1 tsp. sugar
1 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation:
- Place blackberries in a large, heavy pot. Add sugar, water and salt.
Bring to a boil. Cover and cook until berries are done. - DUMPLINGS: mix milk, sugar, flour, baking powder, nutmeg and salt.
Drop the dumpling batter by teaspoonfuls into the berry mixture. Cover and simmer 15 minutes. - Serve with whipped cream.
